Ocoee's downtown grew up around Starke Lake and the citrus industry that shaped much of West Orange County in the early 20th century; the historic Withers-Maguire House, now a museum, dates to that era and sits just blocks from the lake. That older core sits on higher, sandier ground than the low-lying land closer to Lake Apopka's shoreline at the city's western edge, and the difference in elevation and soil type means the two ends of Ocoee can respond very differently to the same heavy rain event.
Like the rest of West Orange County, Ocoee sees the same intense, near-daily summer thunderstorm pattern that drives Central Florida's wet season, and the newer subdivisions built out toward Lake Apopka and Prairie Lake in recent decades rely on the same engineered retention pond systems common to modern Florida development, generally effective but capable of backing up into adjacent yards during an unusually heavy downpour. Ocoee's older lakefront homes around Starke Lake, by contrast, face the slower rising-water risk more typical of a historic Central Florida lake.
We respond to Ocoee water damage calls throughout the city, from the historic Starke Lake core to the newer growth along the Lake Apopka side, with the same fast, fully documented process we use across the Orlando metro.
